What are Art Films & Protective Sheets?
Art Films and Protective Sheets are a core component of the Paint Cure Peel system.
They’re designed to allow you to create gel nail art in advance, store it safely, and apply it in seconds during appointments.
Art Films & Protective Sheets are essential in order to use any Paint Cure Peel Guides, and are completely reusable.
Which items is which?
Art Films are the clear transparent embossed films - they have a thin layer of tissue between the films that are also embossed.
Protective Sheets are the white, semi-transparent sheets that are not embossed.
How does it work?
The process follows three simple steps:
Paint - Use your Paint Cure Peel Guide to trace or free-hand paint your design directly onto the Art Film in gel nail product.
Cure - Cure the design fully under your lamp. Leave the design on the Art Film and place the Protective Sheet over your design to store.
Peel & Apply - When ready to use, break the seal using a flat tool under one edge of the design and peel it from the film - apply it onto a cured but tacky gel layer. Top coat or encapsulate as usual.
A free comprehensive digital guide is emailed with every purchase - giving you everything you need to use the system effectively, troubleshoot and get the best results.

Isn’t this just acetate?
No - while transparent materials can allow gel to cure, not all surfaces behave the same when working with gel.
The Paint Cure Peel Art Film is a purpose-built, gel-compatible material designed specifically for this system.
In practice, with standard acetate:
• Peeling can be inconsistent or difficult
• The surface may grip the gel too strongly
• Sheets aren’t designed for nail-specific use or sizing
• They don’t stay in place while painting
Paint Cure Peel Art Films are designed to give you a controlled surface, reliable peeling, and consistent results every time - without the trial and error.
Can I just use something similar?
There are a lot of DIY or alternative methods used in the industry - but not all materials behave the same when working with gel.
With non-specialised surfaces:
• Peeling can be inconsistent or difficult
• The surface may grip the gel too strongly
• Materials may shift while painting
• Results can vary from set to set

What about laminated paper systems?
Laminated paper is not transparent, which means light cannot pass through effectively.
This can result in:
• Gel not curing properly underneath
• The need to apply a base coat to force peeling
• Increased risk of un-cured gel
If gel isn’t fully cured, it can leave behind uncured monomers, which is directly linked to allergic reactions and sensitisation to gel nail products.
Why doesn’t this system need a base coat?
The Art Film is designed so that gel releases cleanly without the need for a base coat. This avoids unnecessary product layers and allows for a more controlled, consistent process.
Is this system safe?
When used correctly, the Paint Cure Peel system is designed to support safe gel application practices.
The transparent Art Film allows light to pass through, so gel can cure as intended.
As with any gel system, correct curing, appropriate lamp use and compatible products are essential.

Paint Cure Peel was developed by Lotte Seymour MSc, BSc - our founder, nail technician and scientist.
Every component has been selected based on how gel behaves during curing, how materials interact with light, and what works in real salon environments.
