FAQ's
What is Paint Cure Peel?
Paint Cure Peel is a system that allows nail technicians to create gel nail art before the appointment.
Designs are painted onto a specialist art film, cured in the lamp, peeled from the sheet and applied to the nail during the service.
This allows nail art to be prepared in advance and applied in seconds.
How does the Paint Cure Peel system work?
The process follows four simple steps:
Paint → Cure → Store → Peel → Apply
Paint your gel design onto the art film, cure it fully and store it - ready to peel the design away from the sheet and apply it to the nail during the appointment.
This means the design work can be done before the client arrives, reducing appointment time.
What are Shape Guides?
Shape Guides are reusable guides used to create consistent nail art shapes in a selection of 10 sizes.
They are ideal for batch creating designs and tracing shapes quickly onto the art film.
What are Nail Guides?
Nail Guides are reusable guides to help you size nail art to match your client’s nail, and create bespoke, free-hand nail art to size.
This allows you to prepare free-hand nail art to the correct size before the appointment, making application much quicker during the service.
How does it actually work in the salon?
There are two simple ways nail technicians typically use the system.
With Shape Guides, you can create nail art ahead of time whenever it suits you - between appointments, at the end of the day, or during quieter periods in the salon. Designs are painted onto the art film, cured and stored ready to apply when needed.
With Nail Guides, you measure the client’s nail once their base enhancement or plain set is in place at their existing appointment. This allows you to identify the correct nail size and length. You can then select the matching guide and create the nail art on the art film ready for their next appointment.
Many nail techs record these measurements using NailLogs, and label finished designs using Art Film Labels, making it easy to organise designs for each client.
Preparing nail art in advance means designs can be applied quickly during the appointment - helping reduce chair time while still offering detailed nail art.
Do I need to use guides?
No - guides are optional.
Paint Cure Peel can be used to freehand nail art directly onto the art film, or you can use Shape Guides and Nail Guides to help create consistent designs and sizing.
Can I prepare nail art in advance?
Yes - that is the main purpose of the system.
Many nail technicians create designs during quieter periods and store them on protective sheets until they are needed.
What do I need to get started with Shape Guides?
Shape Guide System - Best for creating multiple nail art designs that can be stored and used when needed.
To start using the Shape Guide system you will need:
• Shape Guides
• Art Films & Protective Sheets
These allow you to paint designs onto the art film, cure them, and store them ready to apply during appointments.
Starter bundles are available if you’d like everything you need for either system in one place.
What do I need to get started with Nail Guides?
Nail Guide System - Best for preparing nail art specifically for individual clients.
To start using the Nail Guide system you will need:
• NailSizer
• Nail Guides
• Art Films & Protective Sheets
• Art Film Labels - Paint Cure Number
The NailSizer is used to measure the client’s nail once their base enhancement or plain set is in place. You can then select the matching Nail Guide and create nail art ready for their next appointment.
Many nail technicians also use NailLogs to record measurements and keep client sizing organised.
Starter bundles are available if you’d like everything you need for either system in one place.

Can I use Paint Cure Peel with my existing gel system?
Paint Cure Peel is designed to work with most professional gel systems.
You may wish to experiment slightly with different gel thicknesses to find what works best for your preferred products and designs.
Do I need to be good at nail art to use it?
Not at all.
Paint Cure Peel can be used for both simple and detailed designs, whether you prefer freehand nail art or working with shape guides.
How does the nail art stick to the nail?
The design is applied onto a cured but tacky gel layer.
As explained in our guides, the tacky layer helps hold the design in position while you place it on the nail.
Once positioned, the nail can be cured again to secure it further. The look is then finished by encapsulating the design using a top coat or thicker gel product, just as you would with other nail art techniques.
Will the gel design break when I peel it?
When cured correctly, gel nail art should peel cleanly from the Paint Cure Peel art film without breaking.
The flexibility of the design will depend on the gel thickness and the products you use, so you may wish to experiment slightly with your preferred gel system to find what works best.
Once you become familiar with the process, most nail technicians find the designs peel easily and remain flexible enough to apply to the nail.
Is Paint Cure Peel safe to use?
Paint Cure Peel is created and developed by scientist and nail technician Lotte Seymour (MSc, BSc), who specialises in dental materials and gel nail science.
The application method used in the Paint Cure Peel system means the nail art, and gel layer used to adhere the nail art is already cured before the design is applied. This helps avoid issues associated with excessive uncured product or residual monomers.
